Kathy Peterson was born and raised in rural Minnesota where she developed her love of art and music in grade school. She attended the University of Minnesota Crookston and received an Associate’s Degree in horticulture. While raising her family she worked in the floral industry, all the while honing her art skills and philosophy.
In recent years Kathy has turned her focus toward art and music, believing that her hobbies can be turned into a greater purpose. She believes that we are all created by the Creator who made us to be creative. Creativity is not just confined to the arts.
To that end, Kathy has become a teacher of art and music. “As I work with children, whether in music or art, I want to bring out the creativity in each one of them and help them to understand that creativity is intricately woven into every fiber of our lives.” This leads to the name of this website, “Drawing Out Creativity”. One of Kathy’s greatest joys is to be able to help children express themselves creatively through art and music.
Kathy is a self-taught artist who continues to challenge herself with her own art by experimenting with different forms and mediums. Among them are watercolor, drawing and printing. She still lives in rural Minnesota where she continues to create and inspires others to do the same.
